Annual Agriculture Tour Takes Team Burlison Across Taney County
Our annual agriculture tour has become one of my favorite events of the year. This year, Team Burlison traveled across Taney County, visiting local farms and businesses, and hearing directly from the people who help drive Southwest Missouri’s agriculture industry. We also visited College of the Ozarks, where students get hands-on experience working on dairy, beef, and hog farms; in a meat processing plant; and even in an orchard and gardens.
It’s hard to overstate how important agriculture is to Southwest Missouri, and I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to show us their operations and share what they’re experiencing firsthand.

Inside the Operations Powering Southwest Missouri
Throughout October, I have spent time across the district meeting with local businesses, community leaders, and transportation officials. Among those stops, I toured Springfield Underground and learned more about the locally owned facility’s role in warehousing and the supply chain.
I also visited Red Monkey Foods to see its manufacturing operation and met with MoDOT for an update on the I-44 Forward project.

A Major Victory in the Fight Against the NFA
When I came to Congress in 2023, the first bill I introduced was legislation to repeal the National Firearms Act. Since then, we have made tremendous progress toward dismantling this outdated law.
Last year, we cut the $200 tax to zero on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and certain other firearms. In August, a federal judge ruled that key NFA restrictions could no longer be enforced against the plaintiffs for these untaxed firearms. Now, the Trump administration is going further, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, announcing it will no longer enforce federal registration, tax-stamp, and prior-approval requirements for these covered firearms.
This is a historic victory for gun owners and the Second Amendment. However, the NFA has not been repealed, so our work is not finished. I will continue fighting to repeal it once and for all.

New Op-Ed: Liberal Policies Come With a Price
In my latest op-ed for the Washington Examiner, I explain why you cannot tax and spend your way to affordability. Blue states have tried it for years, and American families are the ones stuck paying the bill.
Illinois is a prime example. High taxes, massive pension obligations, weak job growth, and people leaving the state. Yet other blue states continue pushing many of the same policies.
Missouri should never follow these reckless blueprints. Talk is cheap. Liberal policies are expensive.

Legislation Introduced to Give Small Farmers More Meat Processing Options
I joined Rep. Thomas Massie (KY-04) in introducing the Red Meat Inspection Exemption Act, legislation that would allow qualifying small farmers and ranchers to process livestock raised on their own farms and sell the meat directly to consumers without federal inspection.
The bill would apply to small producers operating within specific annual limits and maintain federal labeling, food-safety, adulteration, and misbranding requirements. Similar federal inspection exemptions already exist for poultry producers.
The legislation also follows through on President Trump’s call to give farmers and ranchers the ability to process their own livestock. Small producers deserve the opportunity to compete, sell directly to their customers, and keep more of that business in their local communities.

Fresh Freedom: Faith, UAP, and the Questions We Can’t Ignore
On the latest episode of Fresh Freedom, Pastor Larry Ragland joins us for a fascinating conversation about faith, unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), and some of the historical questions surrounding the phenomena.
Pastor Ragland shares his interpretation of passages involving the days of Noah, the Nephilim, and spiritual warfare—and how he believes they could relate to some of what we’re seeing today. We also discuss artificial intelligence, emerging technology, and the importance of staying grounded in Scripture as the world around us changes.
