WRDA 2026: Certainty for Table Rock Lake Property Owners

|
On Tuesday, as a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I secured updated language in the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026 to strengthen protections for property owners around Table Rock Lake. After the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers adopted an interpretation of previous WRDA language that was contrary to congressional intent, I worked with Corps leadership and committee members to provide clearer statutory direction. The updated language protects eligible homes, structures, and septic systems while preserving the integrity of Table Rock Lake. The bill now moves to the full House for consideration.

EER Roundtable: Winning the Economic Competition with China
|
|
On Tuesday, as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs, I hosted a roundtable on America's economic competition with China. We discussed how the Working Families Tax Cuts Act supports reliable domestic energy, strengthens our critical minerals supply chain, and prevents Foreign Entities of Concern from benefiting from key tax incentives. We also discussed what it will take for America to lead in artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and other strategic industries.

Public Interest Declassification Board: The Government Belongs to the People
|
|
On Wednesday, I addressed the Public Interest Declassification Board about our work on the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. We've made historic progress securing the release of records related to the Central Intelligence Agency's MKULTRA program, the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as unidentified anomalous phenomena. I also discussed why Congress should modernize the declassification process so agencies can move faster when records no longer need to remain classified.

Brazil UAP Records Request
|
|
I recently sent letters to the Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation requesting an accounting of any U.S. government records related to the 1996 Varginha, Brazil unidentified anomalous phenomena incident. The letters do not ask either agency to validate any particular public claim. They ask the agencies to determine what records exist, preserve any responsive material, and brief Congress on their findings.

On Thursday, I had the privilege of honoring my friend Steven Lampley on the House floor.
Steve loved his family, cared deeply about southwest Missouri, and spent countless hours serving his community. He lived a life of quiet service that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Service Academy Nominations Open
|
|
High school and college students in Missouri’s Seventh District who are interested in serving our country through one of the U.S. service academies can now apply for a congressional nomination through my office. Members of Congress may nominate candidates to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Attending a service academy carries a minimum five-year military service commitment after graduation. Applications for this cycle are due Oct. 13, 2026.
